In my paintings, I am interested in low light levels in interior spaces, in available light, and in the particular qualities of people, places and particularly in objects, or ‘the thingness of things’ as described by Pablo Neruda. Jugs, vessels, implements – the ordinary things of the shelf or table, and how we interact with them as humans. I am interested in working with contemporary versions of timeless places and items, and at looking at continuums, juxtapositions and changes within the minutiae of everyday life.
