Artist statement ;
I see things in the world that I want to paint.
This usually starts an intense scrutiny through looking and drawing.
I need to know my subjects thoroughly. Embodying my intuitive response.
A dance then starts, between myself the subject and the painting.
A rhythm and tempo begin with a huge amount of elements jockeying for position.
Sometimes I feel like a gladiator fighting to find the truth.
I want authenticity, clarity and a certain peculiarity.
When it is successful, the painting emerge is dominant from me and the subject, and I contemporarily rest until it starts again.
